Anxiety Tests / Diagnosis

Does an anxiety 'test' exist and how is a diagnosis of anxiety carried out?

Anxiety diagnosis is carried out by healthcare professionals using a group of questions which can accurately identify those symptoms, sensations and thoughts which are common only to anxiety disorders. There exist no medical anxiety tests, such as blood tests or scans, which can identify anxiety as the cause of symptoms.

Most medical practitioners will know, very quickly, what category of anxiety and at what level it is at in the sufferer. Anxiety diagnosis is fairly strait foreword and extremely accurate. It is very rare for anxiety be diagnosed when, in fact, another condition is at the route of the symptoms.

We have seen many cases where sufferers have been told that they have depression and have been prescribed medication for such when anxiety disorder should have clearly been the correct diagnosis. Many sufferers come to us saying they have stress, adrenal exhaustion, ME and depressive conditions only to find that by following our anxiety elimination programme, they completely recover.

Online anxiety tests and diagnosis

There are a number of anxiety tests or questionnaires available online which enable sufferers to tick boxes and be fed back comments based on their answers. This sort of anxiety test is inaccurate and is never a replacement for medical diagnoses, but, additionally, this sort of test will provide a false reading; some sufferers may feel that the results are accurate or massively inaccurate even if the test is providing inaccurate results.

It is vital that sufferers are aware that anxiety diagnosis using an anxiety test such as this is hit and miss at best and should be avoided. Only by seeking advice from qualified, anxiety disorder specialists can a sufferer begin to understand the nature and extent of their anxiety condition.
