A personal letter from Charles Linden

Dear friend,
I want to tell you something that nobody told me for eighteen years — and I want to tell it to you plainly, because you deserve that.
From the age of nine, I lived with what I now know to be severe anxiety disorder. It manifested as panic attacks, OCD, agoraphobia, depersonalisation, derealisation, obsessive and intrusive thoughts, and a level of chronic fear that made ordinary life feel impossible. I was afraid of places, of situations, of my own mind. There were years when I could barely leave the house. There were periods when simply getting through a single day felt like an achievement.
I saw doctors. I saw psychiatrists, psychologists, and counsellors. I tried medication, talking therapies, relaxation techniques, and every self-help approach I could find. Some of these things brought temporary relief. None of them resolved what was actually happening.
"The problem was that everything I was trying was aimed at managing the symptoms of anxiety — not at addressing the mechanism that creates them. That distinction, once I understood it, changed everything."
In my late twenties, I began to study the neuroscience of fear. I learned about the amygdala — a small structure in the brain that acts as our threat-detection system. In people with anxiety disorder, this structure becomes chronically activated; it learns to treat ordinary stimuli as dangerous and generates the full cascade of anxiety symptoms in response. This is not a character flaw. It is not a sign of weakness or instability. It is a learned biological pattern — and learned patterns can be unlearned.
Using what I had learned, I developed a structured approach to resetting that response — not by suppressing symptoms, not by avoiding triggers, but by directly addressing the neurological mechanism that produces the anxiety in the first place. Within weeks, my anxiety lifted. Completely. For the first time since childhood, I felt like myself.
That was in 1996. I was twenty-seven years old. I had spent more than half my life convinced that this was simply how things were going to be for me — that I was one of the people who would never recover. I was wrong.
"Recovery isn't about managing anxiety better. It's about removing the condition that creates it — permanently, at its source. That is what this method does."
Since then, I have dedicated my life to making this approach available to as many people as possible. The Linden Method has now been used by over 650,000 people globally. Many of them arrived having already tried years of therapy. Many had been told they would need to be medicated for life. Many had simply given up believing that full recovery was possible.
They recovered. And I want you to know — clearly, directly, without qualification — that you can too.
I have worked with NHS clinicians, with elite athletes, with people who hadn't left their homes in years. I have delivered our program through retreats, through one-to-one coaching, through books, and through the structured video program you can access today. Regardless of how someone accesses the method, the core principle remains the same: the fear response can be switched off, permanently, by those who understand it and apply the right process.
You do not need to have hope right now. You do not need to be ready. You do not need to understand how any of this works before you begin.
You just need to take the next step.
With sincere warmth,

Charles Linden

A personal note from Samuel Thomas
Anxiety Recovery Practitioner — LAR Certified
I'm a professional actor who suffered with anxiety for about five years — a relentless mix of Pure-O and intrusive thoughts, ROCD, OCD, agoraphobia, monophobia, depersonalisation, derealisation and chronic insomnia.
Being an actor and working in a creative environment, anxiety is absolutely rife — many actors and creatives suffer in silence.
After trying numerous therapies and prescription drugs, I finally discovered the Linden Method and my life was completely transformed.
A CBT therapist had previously told me I would never recover from anxiety and would spend the rest of my life in therapy and on medication.
"Within two weeks of following the Linden Method, I was completely anxiety free. The intrusive thoughts, the depersonalisation, the insomnia — all of it lifted."
I knew immediately that I wanted to become a coach and help others who were suffering as I once did. Recovery is not only possible — it is inevitable with this method.
